Materials Handler

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with other Leads to develop an operations improvement road map.
  • Identify opportunities and applications for technology solutions and process innovation to drive safety improvement, productivity, cycle time reduction, inventory management and quality
  • Lead, mentor and train a team of supervisors and hourly associates
  • Share and exchange operational best practices with other leaders and managers.
  • Develop and administer operational procedures for their department, and supporting processes.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and develop action plan to sustain daily objectives.
  • Assist manufacturing team in achieving business unit strategic plan objectives, as assigned.
  • Help plan, develop, lead and promote all manufacturing related programs and events focused in creating a lean and agile culture within the manufacturing organization.
  • Support implementation of KPI metrics strategy and daily management tracking.
  • Reward and recognize performance and execute on progressive discipline, as needed
  • Develop and share best practices across the shifts within department.
  • Create a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees in their department: provide feedback to drive change within the facility, adapt to the ever-changing business strategies while staying focused.
  • Help drive continuous improvement: safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while growing and expanding capabilities.
  • Assure product and process quality within manufacturing scope.
  • Assists C.I. team in the completion of time studies, value stream mapping, 5S and C.I. kaizen events.
  • Conducts all work duties as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or a combination of education,
  • 3-5 years demonstrable experience of leading a team and process improvement initiatives across operational (manufacturing) and business management settings in any industry.
  • Hands-on experience implementing a variety of CI / LSS tools to drive Lean Conversion. Tools include 5S, Standard Work, Visual/Daily Management, Problem Solving Process, Kaizen facilitation, Value stream mapping, Business Plan Deployment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • Most Important Competencies Required:
  • Leadership – Ability to lead a team of diverse skill sets
  • Consultative skills – Experience driving Lean strategies at both the executive and associate level
