Group Leader - Vacforming

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develops schedule in Daily increments to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet due dates as per applicable Schedule.
  • Coordinates labour requirements based on standard work and hourly count board targets while minimizing overtime to meet customer demand and achieving quoted labour costing.
  • Provides direction and approval to Team Coordinators regarding production setup layout to include station work elements, balancing, equipment needs and incoming and outgoing material flow that support one piece flow production of the job based on quoted labour and material cost with the support of the Team coordinator and operators
  • Supports Team Coordinators to ensure standard work procedures for operators and material handlers are being followed for each production job and supporting processes
  • Builds quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance with all quality requirements and by initiating continuous improvement projects
  • Collects KPI data from the Team Coordinators for job and ensures hour by hour boards are filled out by Team Coordinators; forward data to section managers on a daily and weekly basis
  • Responsible for working with other Section Managers, Team Coordinators and other Group Leaders to achieve labour needs for the total business requirements, based on the Department Manager’s direction
  • Works with the Team Coordinator to ensure production materials are staged on the line, in the holding areas before production process begins, and assists with clearing any roadblocks
  • Ensures outgoing finished goods reaches internal customers packed in an organized and safe fashion
  • Ensures and initiates action with Section Manager to eliminate ALL issues preventing a quality product that impedes an on time delivery of a production job
  • Works with Section Manager to develop and implement any improvement ideas that supports business objectives
  • Responsible and accountable for root the cause analyses and corrective action for ALL KPI target misses and other production related issues for assigned jobs. Must support applicable Section Manager for overall department objectives
  • Leads Line SQDC meetings for their assigned Teams and follows up on any open actions from meeting
  • Ensures 5S standard for the department section is being met and supports audits and corrective action for issues.

 Skills Required:

  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks, and efficiently meet deadlines
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Access and internal custom programs Database software; Internet Explorer Internet software; Industrios and internal custom programs Inventory software; Industrios and internal custom programs Order processing systems; MS Project Project Management software; Advanced MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word  software
