Developmental Engineering Technologist

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Designs and manages customer specific projects from a mechanical and design standpoint to satisfy the needs of the client, budget, timeline and quality standards.
  • Consults directly with the Director of Design and Development (and sales if required through kickoff meeting or other collaboration) to establish and evaluate assignment requests and deliverables at initial briefing.
  • Collaborates and communicates with associates and cross-functional teams on the development and execution of design and engineering solutions to ensure production packages convey the necessary information.
  • Prepares detailed models, planograms, technical drawings, tool drawings, CNC cut files, and type-safety drawings as specified to meet the requirements and schedule of each assignment.
  • Develops engineering drawing packages to suit manufacturing processes and make adjustments that arise during the prototype phase with PP&D.
  • Creates accurate bill of materials to include all necessary components for projects.
  • Responsible for updating, maintaining and communication status of assigned tasks/jobs in DataWeb and the control/uploading of supporting documents and drawings to the appropriate system/task/job/folder.
  • Partnering with PP&D team and coordinating the fabrication of samples alongside team members as well as revising technical packages as recommended by the PP&D team.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts all work duties as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Technology or Design (or similar field) with at least 2-3 years POP/Retail Design (or related) experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Customer Service experience an asset.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical understanding of various manufacturing processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of CAD Software, SolidWorks, CNC Programming, Internet Software, Word Processing Software, Spreadsheet Software, and Database Software.
