Material Coordinator

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Communicates with multiple departments to determine the status / completion date of components required for assembly
  • Accountable to follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality system.
  • Works with Section Manager and Group Leaders to develop improvement ideas that support business objectives
  • Prepares ALL Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for the Assembly area and hands off to the applicable Group Leader/Team Coordinator for completion. Then coordinates with multiple departments to ensure rework is completed.
  • Gathers SQDC data and populates the daily file accordingly
  • Ensures material Kanban systems, requests are properly filled out, and executed in a timely fashion.  For both requesting to production and ALL return to Stock or AMC areas.
  • Ensures ALL inter-departmental requests are properly filled out and executed in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures production materials are staged on the line before production process begins to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensures standard work procedures for operators and material handlers are being followed for each production job and supporting processes.
  • Ensures and initiates action with Group Leaders and Section Manager to eliminate issues preventing a quality, productive and on time delivery of a production job.
  • Supports continuous improvement to include production methods, productivity, delivery performance, equipment performance, and product quality and employee safety while engaging operators’ ideas.
  • Responsible for providing feedback to Group Leader / Section Manager for root cause and corrective action for KPI target misses and other production related issues for assigned jobs.
  • Ensures that ALL lines are properly torn down including material return to stock, storage of assembly fixtures and tool return, and all applicable 5S standards.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook Contact Management systems; Basic to intermediate MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Word Processing software.
